A Passion for Paris
By David Downie

David Downie (Paris to the Pyrenees, 2013) is a Paris transplant, a walking-tour guide steeped in Parisian lore, and an acclaimed writer. blast-off Blast Off!: A Summer Learning Challenge Uses Space Travel to Teach Twenty-First-Century Problem-Solving Skills
By Elizabeth McChesney and Shilo Pearson

Digital learning provides a logical platform for connecting young readers to books. Incorporating science and STEM themes is a natural way to promote self-guided learning by appealing to children’s innate curiosity. As they learn how to conquer the Internet through well-sourced sites, links back to the printed page can provide clear—and fun!—stepping stones for learning.

column_carte-blanche Carte Blanche: My New Year’s Resolution
By Michael Cart

New Year’s Day has come and gone, and I find myself wondering—a bit impertinently, perhaps—what New Year’s resolutions you made and whether you’ve managed to keep them. As for me, I seldom make any formal resolutions, only tacit ones. I think halfheartedly, for example, about being more patient, about going to the gym more often, eating less chocolate, getting less apoplectic about the news of the day, and so on.
